I met a friend in Cambridge last week and among shopping we decided to set up a photo shoot to get new Facebook profile pictures for each other. I decided to take some pictures from town as well because it feels like I haven't taken proper tourist pictures in a long while. Even though I've lived here for over three years I can still be a tourist! :-D It's amazing that being a media student I don't have to have excuses for carrying my camera out and taking pictures, haha! And if anybody asks whether I'd be interested in a punting tour because I look like a tourist, I can always politely say no thank you.
Studying is going alright, I did some readings this week but I still have two chapters, not sure I manage to do both. I was kinda hoping to do some yesterday during my three-hour-break but I was feeling sick so decided to go out walking with my mates instead. Today I'm starting work at three so if I have any time left after finishing this post I might have a little look but soon I got to go to work. Yesterday we had a seminar about photographs and how the meaning of photographing has changed through the different decades. We were also wondering what is the meaning of selfies. Why do we take selfies? To be honest I don't take selfies very often and don't understand why somebody has to take them every day. Obviously I have photos of myself on here but it's a blog about me so it'd be a bit off if my face didn't show here at all. Mainly I take photos to document the life around me and to post it all up here. I like capturing the moment and the little details in this world, like them little flower pots in the corner of the market telling us that spring is nearly here! I found the topic really interesting, and even the reading was alright. The lecturer said I should consider answering the essay question about the topic, and I do consider it. I wanna see what other topics we are going to go through. Media Technology module, which I first thought sounded really boring is actually starting to seem like one of the most interesting. That's a good reminder to keep an open mind and not to judge something by how it first seems.
+ Näin viime viikolla suomalaista kaveria ja shoppailun lomassa pistettiin pienet kuvaukset pystyyn, että saatiin molemmille uudet profiilikuvat Facebookkiin. Päätin sitten vähän kuvata keskustaakin, kun en oo pitkään aikaan ottanu kunnon turistikuvia. Vaikka oonkin asunu täällä yli kolme vuotta niin silti voi välillä olla vähän turisti! Ja mediaopiskelijana on onneks aina hyvä tekosyy kantaa kameraa mukana ja ottaa kuvia, hehhe. :-D Ja jos täällä pyörivät punting eli jokilaiva-ajeluja kaupustelevat tyypit pysäyttelee kun näytän niin turistilta niin voi aina ystävällisesti sanoo ei kiitos.
Opiskelu sujuu ihan mukavasti, Oon saanu lukuläksyjäkin luettuu, mut ens viikolle ois vielä kaks kappaletta, nii en tiiä ehinko lukee molempii maanantaihin mennessä, hehhee. Olin toiveikas et oisin ehtiny lukee ne eilen kolmen tunnin hyppärillä, mut mulla oli paha olo joten päätin lähtee raittiiseen ilmaan kavereiden kaa lukemisen sijaan. Jos mulla nyt on hetki aikaa tän postauksen kirjottamisen jälkeen niin saatan vilkasta niitä nopeesti, mutta kohta pitää lähtee jo töihinkin. Eilen meillä oli seminaari aiheesta valokuvaus ja se oli tosi mielenkiintonen. Pohdiskeltiin miten valokuvaus on muuttunu eri vuosikymmenten aikana ja mikä merkitys selfieillä on? Miks me ylipäätänsä otetaan selfieitä? Mä en tosiaan ota selfieitä edes joka viikko, enkä ymmärrä miks jotkut ottaa niitä päivittäin. Tietysti mulla on täällä kuvia ittestäni, mutta tää blogi kertookin mun elämästä, joten olis vähän outoa jos mun naamaa ei näkyis yhtään. Lähinnä mä otan valokuvia dokumentoidakseni elämää ja laittaakseni niitä kuvia tänne. Tykkään siitä että tietyn hetken ja pieniä yksityiskohtia saa vangittua valokuvaan ikuisuuksiksi, niinkun esimerkiksi noi pienet kukkaruukut torin kulmalta, jotka kertoo että kevät on melkeen jo täällä! Mun mielestä valokuvaus-aihe oli tosi mielenkiintonen ja jopa lukuläksy oli suht jees. Opettaja sano, että mun kannattais harkita esseekysymystä valokuvausaiheesta, ja todellakin pistän sen muistiin, vaikka haluun kyllä tietää mitä muitakin aiheita aiotaan vielä opiskella. Media teknologia kurssi, joka vaikutti alunperin tylsältä ja kuivakalta alkaakin vaikuttaa kaikista mielenkiintosimmalta! Yks todiste taas, että kannattaa pitää mieli avoimena eikä tuomita kaikkea ensivaikutelman perusteella. :-)
