Some realistic pictures of me

For the past two weeks I have been studying pretty much all the time. Projects, presentations, evaluations and essays... Now I only have the long essays and one evaluation left to finish, and then it's all done! Today is pretty much my last day at uni and then I got to finish everything by the the 14th. Yesterday I took a well deserved day off as it was May bank holiday, and my boyfriend was off too. It's been really lovely and warm here, and summer's pretty much here. I'm hoping to get lots of extra shifts from work during the summer, and was thinking about looking for some experience in media industry if I can find anything. Well, my head can't think of anything else but uni work at the moment so we shall leave this here. The pictures are some shots my boyfriend took of me, I think they describe me pretty well, haha. + Viimeset pari viikkoa oon pelkästään opiskellu. Projekteja, esitelmiä, arviointeja ja esseitä... Nyt on enää kaks esseetä ja yks arviointi jäljellä ja kaikki on tehty! Tänään on periaatteessa vika koulupäivä ja sit pitäis vaa saada kaikki tehtyä 14sta päivään mennessä. Eilen pidin ansaitun vapaapäivän kouluhommista koska täällä oli pyhäpäivä ja mun poikakaverikin oli vapaalla. Täällä on ollu ihanan lämmintä ja kesä on melkeenpä alkanu. Toivon mukaan saisin paljon ekstratunteja töistä kesällä, ja ajattelin kattella jos löytäisin jotain media-alan kokemustakin. Tällä hetkellä mun päähän ei mahu oikeen  muuta kun kouluhommia, joten jätän tää riittäköön tältä kertaa. :-D Kuvat on poikakaverin ottamia ja kuvaa mua aika osuvast,  aina kamera ojossa. Too many photos from the nicest summery day

These pictures taken a week ago turned out so lovely I just couldn't pic a couple to post but had to put pretty much all of the up here, haha. I've not touched my camera this week because I've been so busy with presentations and projects, but hopefully we'll take a nice trip somewhere by the end of this week and I'll get some more pictures to post. It was such a lovely weather a week ago, and to be honest it's been quite nice for the whole week. Today and yesterday I've been pretty much studying and doing projects, and later on today I'm going to work. It's a tough couple of weeks, and it's hard to believe we only have two weeks left. The week after next is just gonna be essay workshops, and then we have a week to finish everything, as the deadline to submit work. It feels unreal that my first year is nearly over, but I got to admit, I've learned a lot more than I expected, of things I didn't even know existed! I feel like the first year has been a little bit confusing because I haven't had a clue why we are studying all the strange topics, but now that it's nearly over it kinda all makes sense. We've been given the basic knowledge to carry on learning next year, and develop our skills even further. For next year I've chosen a radio module, and a news writing module, and am quite looking forward to them. I'll also have modules about media politics, which doesn't sound too appealing, but I'll try not to worry about it because it might actually turn out to be quite interesting, just like Media and Technology did this semester. I still have quite a lot of research to do, and I haven't even planned one of my essays yet, but I've nearly finished one project, and did a presentation yesterday, so I have two things less to worry about. Magazine project is one of the main things for this week, because I have to write quite a lot of stuff for it, and to finish doing research for the second presentation, which is due next week. My boyfriend kind of promised to buy me a bag so I think that's gonna be my treat when I've finished all the assignments. I've already picked the one I'd like. :-) Now, I got to get on with some research but I shall be coming to update you soon. I'll probably finish my video project tomorrow, so I can then pop it up here as well, for you to see.

+ Nää kuvat on otettu viikko sitten, ja näistä tuli niin kivoja etten voinu vaan valita paria, vaan piti postata melkeenpä kaikki. :-D En oo varmaan koskenukkaan kameraan tällä viikolla, koska oon ollu niin uppoutunu esitelmien ja projektien tekoon. Toivottavasti loppuviikosta ehitään poikakaverin kanssa johonkin, että saisin vähän lisää kuvamateriaalia. Viime viikolla oli niin ihana sää, ja ei kyllä oo valittamista koko viikon säässäkään. Tänään ja eilen oon pelkästään opiskellu ja tehny projekteja, mutta tänään meen iltavuoroon töihin. Nyt on aika rankat pari viikkoo edessä, mutta sitten kaikki aherrus onkin jo ohi! Ens viikon jälkeisellä viikolla on tunneilla enää vaan esseenkirjotusapua, mutta ei enää uusia aiheita. Sitten meillä on viikko aikaa saada kaikki tehtyä, koska palautuspäivä on 14.5. Tuntuu epätodelliselta, että eka vuosi on melkeen ohi, mutta on pakko myöntää, että oon oppinu tosi paljon, ja jopa sellasia asioita joiden olemassaolosta en edes tienny. :-D Tää eka vuosi on ollu vähän sellasta hapuilua, enkä oo ollu ihan varma miks meille opetetaan kaikkia outoja juttuja, mut nyt kun se kaikki on melken ohi, nin onhan siinä kaikessa ollu joku idea. Meille on annettu perustaidot ja tietoa, että osataan jatkaa opiskelua ens vuonna ja kehittää taitoja vielä parempaan suuntaan. Ens vuodelle oon jo valinnu radiokurssin ja uutiskirjotuskurssin, joita odotan jo innolla. Meillä tulee myös olemaan media politiikkaa, mikä ei kuulosta kauheen innostavalta, mutta yritän olla kasaamatta kauheesti ennakkoluuloja, koska voi olla, että se onkin tosi kiinnostava kurssi, ihan niin kuin Media ja Teknologia yllätti mut tänä lukukautena. Mulla on vielä kyllä aika paljon hommaa ja aineistoa pitäis löytää eri esseisiin ja projekteihin, enkä oo vielä edes suunnitellu mun yhtä esseetä. Onneks sentään saan tällä viikolla mun videoprojektin valmiiksi, ja ensimmäinen esitelmä oli eilen, joten kaks asiaa vähemmän on murhedittavana. Lehtiprojekti vaatii aika paljon työtä ja materiaalia, ja se onkin tän viikon päätehtävä, ja pitäis myös saada toinen esitelmä valmiiks, koska se pitää esittää ens viikolla. Mun poikakaveri tavallaan lupas, että se ostais mulle uuden laukun, joten se saa olla mun kouluhommien suorittamisen palkkio. Oon jo päättäny minkä haluun, hehee. Nyt pitää alkaa ettimään aineistoa, mutta tuun taas pian päivittelemään. Kunhan huomenna saan videoprojektin kasaan, nin laitan sen tännekin teille nähtäväksi. :-)

Last four weeks ahead

So I'm back in England, and got back to reality straight away when the first day back at work I had to go up and down a stopped escalator for the whole seven hours because upstairs was closed. Now my legs are a tad stiff but luckily I had a brand new foam roller waiting for me here and I've been rolling yesterday and today. It hurts so much though! :-D I've been trying to get the essay done but I'm stuck at 1200 words, so I have 800 to go. I have a plan and lots of points to write about but I just seem to be stuck and want to make it the best essay I've written so far. I guess I still have a month until the due date but I have to complete the projects and presentations, not to forget the other essay. (And now I realised that I have a presentation in two weeks about the essay topic I haven't even started thinking about yet so I'm panicking.... *deep breaths*.) Tomorrow is the last day of Easter break and I'm glad I went to Finland because otherwise I probably wouldn't have relaxed any bit. Now I managed to forget the stress for almost a week. I guess it's the last squeeze this year and then I'll have a super long summer holiday and the first year is complete. And first year marks don't count towards the final marks so I suppose it doesn't matter if I don't get the perfect marks, even though I wanna do my best. I've got quite a few pictures from my holiday and will be posting them soon. I shall be busy for the last four weeks of uni but I'll try my best updating you how I'm getting on. I hope you all had a relaxing holiday and wish you all good luck if you have the last few weeks to push to finish this semester, we can do it!

+ Oon taas takasin Englannissa ja pääsin rytinällä normaaliin arkeen kun ekana työpäivänä jouduin seittemän tuntia ravaamaan pysäytettyjä rullaportaita ylös ja alas kun yläkerta oli suljettu. On ollu vähän pohkeet jäykkinä sen jälkeen, mutta onneks mua odotti täällä upouusi putkirulla ja oonkin ehtiny rullailemaan useempana päivänä. Ja voi pojat, kyllä se sattuu! Oon yrittäny saada sitä ekaa esseetä valmiiksi, mutta oon juttunu siihen 1200 sanan paikkeille. Pitäis vielä pinnistää 800 sanaa, ja vaikka mulla ois hyviä pointteja ja asiaa kirjotettavana, niin en jotenkaan pääse eteenpäin. Haluisin vaan viilata siitä parhaan esseen, minkä oon kirjottanu tähän mennessä. Onhan mulla vielä toisaalta kuukausi aikaa, mutta sitten on projektit, esitelmät ja se toinen essee. (Ja nyt tajusin, että mulla on kahen viikon päästä esitelmä siitä esseeaiheesta, jota en oo vielä ees ajatellu eli paniikki.... *hengitä syvään*.) Huomenna on vika lomapäivä ja oon tyytyväinen, että menin Suomeen, koska muuten en ois varmaan rentoutunu yhtään. Nyt sain sentään melkeen viikoksi unohtaa kaiken stressin ja huolet. Nyt on enää vika puristus jäljellä, että on eka kouluvuosi paketissa ja superpitkä kesäloma alkaa. Eikä meillä edes ekan vuoden arvosanat vaikuta loppuarvosanoihin, joten ei kai sillä niin väliä oo jos joku aine ei meekkään ihan täydellisesti. Tietysti silti haluisin tehä parhaani. Otin aika monta kuvaa lomalla, joten tuun postailemaan niitä piakkoin. Oon varmaan seuraavat neljä viikkoa aikas kiireinen, mutta yritän muistaa ilmotella teillekin, että miten mulla menee. Toivottavasti teillä oli rentouttava loma ja paljon tsemppiä jos teilläkin on edessä viimeset kouluviikot, me pystytään tähän! :-) 

Beaching

My  boyfriend and I went to the beach last week and had a lovely sunny day out with the dog. She absolutely loves running free and the beach is exactly the right place for that because she can run through all the puddles. Hunstanton is such a beautiful beach with the red and white rock wall and many seaweek covered rocks scattered around the beach. We had such a lovely time and now that I'm in Finland it feels like it was ages ago. :-D I got here on Tuesday and have had a relaxing time  so far (apart from this morning when my sister and I did a 30-minute killer workout). Tomorrow we're going to head to north east to see relatives and have two family events up there. I won't be coming back home because my parents will drop me off at the airport on Tuesday and I'll be heading back to England. I hope I can get as much out of this holiday as possible and feel all relaxed and ready to get on with my assingments and essays when I come back. I did start writing the first draft of my essay on the plane and started planning the magazine project so it seems going alright so far. Today we're just gonna stay home and maybe bake some Finnish biscuits because my grandparents are coming over later. At least after that killer workout we can be eating plenty of easter eggs and feel no guilt, haha! I really like these pictures and have so many ideas about photography because of the essay, so I might be writing  a bit more about it sometime soon, hopefully you're not getting bored of it yet. :-)

+ Mentiin poikakaverin kanssa rannalle viime viikolla ja oli niin ihana aurinkoinen päivä koiran kanssa. Se rakastaa vapaana juoksemista ja ranta on just oikee paikka sille kun voi juosta vesilätäkköjen läpi. Hunstanton on tosi kaunis rantakylä ja siellä on hauska kaksvärinen kallioseinä ja söpöjä pyöreitä merilevällä päällystettyjä kiviä. Meillä oli niin mukavaa ja nyt kun oon Suomessa tuntuu, että siitäi ois ikuisuus. :-D Tulin tänne tiistaina ja on ollu tosi rentouttavaa tähän asti (paitsi tän aamun rankkaa puolen tunnin siskon kanssa tehtyä jumppaa lukuun ottamatta). Huomenna mennään pohjanmaalle sukuloimaan ja pariin suvun tapahtumaan. En tuukkaan sitten enää takas kotiin vaan tiistaina vanhemmat vie mut suoraan lentokentälle. Toivon, että saisin mahdollisimman paljon irti tästä lomasta ja voisin palata Englantiin rentoutuneena ja valmiina tekemään projekteja ja esseitä. Alotin onneks jo yhen esseen lentokoneessa ja tein lehtiprojektin suunnitelmankin, joten hommat vaikuttaa etenevän ihan hyvin. Tänään me aiotaan olla vaan kotona ja leipoo ehkä jotain keksejä kun isovanhemmat tulee myöhemmin kylään. Ainakin jumpan jälkeen voi hyvällä omallatunnolla syödä pääsiäismunia, hehe. Tykkään tosi paljon näistä kuvista ja mulla on taas tosi paljon ideoita valokuvausaihetta koskien, kun oon pohtinu sitä esseekysymystä. Toivottavasti ette oo vielä kyllästyny aiheeseen koska voi olla, että kirjottelen siitä vielä postauksen jos toisenkin. :-)

Last day before the holidays

Today is the last day before the two week Easter holiday! We've been constantly reminded about essays, presentation and projects for the past week and I am quite glad to let all the stress go for a couple of days and just relax. I suddenly decided to book flights to Finland, and am going to stay there for a week. We have a couple of family events coming up so it was quite the right time to go. The only downside is that I'm flying on my boyfriend's birthday but we had a lovely day at the beach on Tuesday and have been doing a lot of stuff together this week. I even bought him a present for the first time in two years (because he's just always wanted money for car parts etc). :-D We usually go to Finland together but this came up so suddenly he couldn't get time off work. We have gone to Finland for Easter for the past couple of years because we usually go to Lapland around this time but this year my parents had their own holiday at the Caribbean so we weren't originally going. I think that's why it feels so natural going back now because it's been the same for years.

As I said we've been told about all the assingments, essays and presentations now and the stress is in the air. I've been trying to keep calm but the fact is I will have to read loads and loads for my essays, a presentation, and a magazine project. Luckily I've finished all the projects we've been given throughout the semester. I think I'm going to print a couple of readings and take them with me on holiday to read on the plane and prepare my essay. I am dreading the essay questions for the main theory module, which has basically been about all sorts of research methods and so on, and the questions are just as interesting as the module has been (as in the most boring). We also have to write and design a 8-page magazine as the final project for print media module, and make a vlog and an essay (I think) for the networked image module. It shall be a lot of work but at least we're gonna have a bit of extra time to work on it during the holidays. I will be getting more work next month so I shall be a busy bunny (haha Easter jokes). I hope you'll all have a lovely holiday. I'm not sure if I'll be updating during my stay in Finland but we'll see. I hope you don't mind the random pictures, I just had them in the drafts so at least I won't be posting just loads of text without loads of pictures. :-P Have a lovely Easter everybody!

+ Tänään on vika päivä ennen pääsiäislomaa! Meitä ollaan koko viikko muistuteltu esseistä, esitelmistä ja projekteista ja oon aika ilonen, että kaiken stressin voi unohtaa hetkeks. Mä päätin yllättäen varata lennot Suomeen ja vietänkin siellä sitten viikon mun lomasta. Meillä on pari tapahtumaa perheen kanssa, eli on kyllä ihan oikee aika tulla sinne. Ainoo huono puoli on, että lennän mun poikakaverin synttäripäivänä. Ollaan onneks tehty kaikkea kivaa tällä viikolla ja tiistaina käytiin rannallakin. Ostin sille jopa synttärilahjan ekaa kertaa kahteen vuoteen (koska se on aina vaan halunnu rahaa auton osiin yms). :-D Me ollaan yleensä menty Suomeen yhessä, mutta tää loma tuli niin yllättäen ettei se saanu vapaata töistä. Käydään yleensä Suomessa pääsiäisen aikaan kun mennään mun perheen kanssa Lappiin, mutta tänä vuonna vanhemmat meni Karibialle eli ei alun perin oltu menossa ollenkaan Suomeen. Siks varmaan tuntuu jotenkin niin luonnolliselta mennä sinne nyt kun niin on tehny vuosia.

Niinku sanoin, meille ollaan koulussa kerrottu esseistä, esitelmistä ja tehtävistä ja stressiä on ilmassa. Oon yrittäny pysytellä rauhallisena, mutta tiedän että mun pitää lukea ihan sairaasti materiaalia esseitä, esitelmiä ja yhtä loppuprojektia varten. Onneks oon sentään tehny kaikki projektit ajallaan tän lukukauden aikana. Aion varmaan tulostaa pari kappaletta lukemista lomalle mukaan otettavaksi, että voin sitten vaikka lentokoneessa lukea ja valmistella mun esseitä. Pelottaa ajatellakaan sitä tutkimusteoriakurssin esseetä koska ne kysymykset on yhtä mielenkiintosia kuin se kurssi on ollu (kuolettavan tylsiä siis). Meijän pitää myös kirjottaa ja suunnitella kaheksansivunen lehti loppuprojektiks print media-kurssille ja kuvata vlogi ja kirjottaa essee (kai) networked image-kurssille. Aika paljon töitä pitää paiskia, mut ainakin on vähän enemmän aikaa kun on loma. Ens kuussa saankin taas normaalin määrän töitä, eli tuun olemaan varsin kiireinen. Toivottavasti teillä on mukava pääsiäisloma. En oo varma ehinkö Suomen lomalta päivittelemään blogia, mutta se nähdään sitten. Toivottavasti teitä ei haittaa nää randomkuvat, mutta kun taas luonnoksista löysin ettei tarttis laittaa paljon tekstiä ilman montaa kuvaa. :-P Mukavaa pääsiäistä kaikille!

Where did it go?

Christmassy pictures from last year because I have simply not had time to carry a camera around and take pictures. Last weeks of uni have been super busy with essays and projects, not forgetting the fact that I've still been working at least two days a week. It's honestly the first time I've had a sit down without thinking uni stuff. Today was my last day of uni this semester and it feels weird. It doesn't feel like a full semester, it went too quickly! Last lectures and seminars did feel more exhausting than the first ones but thinking back to it, I can't believe how quickly it's all gone by. The reason I'm writing now is because I'm flying to Finland tomorrow. I don't think I'll be posting anything because my computer is going to be sent to repair, and I don't honestly know how much I'm gonna carry my camera around. I have been taking some pictures with my new phone though, and will try to find out whether I'd manage to do blog posts on my phone. I still have one essay to write and all of tomorrow I'm going to spend traveling from Cambridge to Stansted, and from Stansted to Finland, and finally from the Tampere airport to Pori where my nana lives. Hopefully I'll manage to do some research and planning at the airport and on the plane. I'd rather not spend too many days doing essays on holiday, but I guess I can spare one quiet Christmas holiday day when all the shops are shut. :-D Today I submitted the radio project and will upload it on soundcloud and link it below so you can have a listen what Corin and I created. The lecturers liked it so hopefully we'll get a high mark. I got feedback from my first essay as well and managed to get 60%! It's good because 40% is pass, 50% is ok, and 60% is good. 70% is excellent so that's where I'm targeting next, even though I have three essays to write this time and a lot less time to spend doing them, haha. We'll see when I finish doing all of them, I might just be happy with another 60%, or maybe 65%, lol. Hopefully you're all well. I'm all packed and ready to go tomorrow, just need to print my boarding pass out and holiday will begin!

+ Jouluisia kuvia viime vuodelta koska mulla ei yksinkertasesti oo ollu aikaa kantaa kameraa ympäriinsä ja ottaa kuvia. Vikat yliopistoviikot on ollu tosi rankat ja oon ollu tosi kiireinen esseiden ja projektien takia. Nyt on oikeesti eka kerta ku istuin alas pariin viikkoon ilman opiskelupaniikkia. Tänään oli vika koulupäivä tänä vuonna ja tää lukukausi on menny kyllä niin sairaan nopeesti etten edes tajua. Vikat seminaarit ja luennot oli kyllä paljon puuduttavampia kun ekat, mutta nyt kun sitä ajattelee niin en tiedä mihin aika on menny. Päätin kirjottaa nyt koska huomenna lennänkin jo Suomeen joululoman viettoon. En tiiä miten ahkerasti jaksan tai ehdin sieltä postailla, koska tietokone menee korjaukseen ja en tiedä paljonko jaksan kantaa kameraa mukana. Oon ottanu uudella puhelimella kuvia ja ajattelin selvittää josko sillä pystyin postaamaan joten kuten. Mulla on vielä yks essee kirjottamatta ja huomisen aion käyttää kokonaan matkustamiseen. Eka meen Cambridgesta Stanstedille ja sieltä Tampereelle ja sieltä vielä mummulle Poriin. Toivottavasti ehin vähän lueskelemaan aineistoa esseitä varten ja tekemään jonkin näköstä suunnitelmaa. En mielelläni käyttäis koko lomaa esseiden viilaamiseen, mut kai jonkun joulupäivän voi sellaseen uhrata jos ei kaupatkaan oo ees auki. :-D Laitettiin meijän radioprojekti tänään arvosteluun ja lataan sen kohta soundcloudiin ja linkkaan tohon alle, että tekin voitte kuunnella mitä minä ja Corin saatiin aikaan. Opettajat tykkäs tosi kovasti, joten toivottavasti tulee hyvä arvosana, hehe. Sain ekasta esseestä palautetta pari päivää sitten ja onnistuin saamaan 60%! Se on hyvä koska 40% on läpi, 50% on ok, 60% on hyvä ja 70% erinomainen. Ens kerralla sitten tähtään vielä parempaan prosenttiin, mutta toisaalta esseitä on enemmän ja aikaa vähemmän joten voi olla et tyydyn vaan samaan tai mitä sieltä nyt tupsahtaakaan. :-) Toivottavasti teillä on kaikki mukavasti. Mä oon pakannu laukut ja enää pitää printtaa matkalippu ja sit alkaa loma!

New phone and other news

I don't even know where this week went! I have been feeling poorly - been having a constant headache and a swollen throat and today when everything else was fine I got earache. So unlucky! I finally got my new phone working because I had to order a smaller sim and it took a week to arrive. All in all the new phone is amazing! The battery actually lasts really well and with a 20 megapixel camera there just isn't anything to complain about. Next week I'm only working on Wednesday so I have all the extra time for assessments. I have started writing the first essay but didn't get anything done this week. I didn't have a whole day off until today and decided to rest and spend time with my boyfriend instead of studying. I try not to worry too much but I want to do well. The first year markings don't affect the final degree but it's hard to start doing well if you've been slacking the first year. We'll only get the feedback from our essays on Friday the 12th and on the 19th I'm flying to Finland. Trying to meet up friends and having Christmas do's at the same time is going to be tough, and it seems that my holiday in Finland is going to be pretty scheduled too. I hope I'll have some time for just chilling and eating pick and mix sweets with my sister. Then again, I'm sure I can change plans if it seems to get too hectic. I'll be taking pictures with my new phone next week and will be posting them on here. I'm excited to see what the quality is going to be like. :-) I hope you're all doing well!

+ En edes tiedä mihin tää viikko on kadonnu! Oon ollu kipeenä ja tänään kun ei vihdoin ollu koko ajan pää kipeenä ja kurkku turvoksissa niin tietty mun korvaa alko särkemään. Onneks särkylääkkeet autto. Sain vihdoin mun uuden puhelimen toimimaan. Odotin pienempää sim-korttia viikon kun se piti tilata erikseen. Kokonaisuudessaan uus puhelin on ihana! Akku kestää tosi hyvin eikä 20 megapikselin kamerassa oo moitittavaa. Ens viikolla oon vaan keskiviikkona töissä koska oon varannu kaiken ylimääräsen ajan esseiden kirjottamiselle. Oon alottanu yhen esseen, mutta en oikeestaan päässy tällä viikolla yhtään eteenpäin. Mulla ei vaihteeks ollu yhtään vapaapäivää ennen sunnuntaita joten tänään päätin vaan olla poikakaverin kaa ja rentoutuu opiskelun sijaan. Yritän olla stressaamatta ja murehtimatta koulujuttuja, mutta se on vaikeeta kun haluun saada hyviä arvosanoja. Meijän ekan vuoden arvosanoja ei lasketa mukaan tutkinnon vikoihin arvosanoihin, eli periaatteessa niillä ei oo mitään väliä, mut jos nyt laiskottelee niin ei tokana ja kolmantena vuonna sitten yhtäkkii pystykkään supertuloksiin. Me saadaan palautetta vasta perjantaina 12 päivä ja lennän Suomeen jo 19 päivä! Kavereiden tapaaminen ja pikkujoulujen vietto opiskelun lomassa tulee olemaan kiireistä ja Suomen lomakin vaikuttaa olevan melko aikataulutettu. Jos alkaa tuntumaan ettei oo aikaa pelkälle makoilulle ja irtsareitten syönnille niin pitää vaan muuttaa suunnitelmia että aikaa löytyy. Ens viikolla aion ottaa paljon kuvia uudella puhelimella ja laittaa niitä sitten tänne. Ootan jo innoissani millasta kuvanlaatua tolla puhelimella saa kun ne lataa nettiin.
